How long does SMP last?

SMP is considered semi-permanent and typically lasts 4–6 years. Over time, the pigment may fade slightly, and a touch-up session can restore the original look. Proper aftercare and sun protection help extend the results.

Does SMP hurt?

Most clients describe SMP as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful, similar to light scratching or a small tattoo sensation. At KCole Studio, we use numbing agents and work carefully to ensure a comfortable experience.

Who is a good candidate for SMP?

SMP is ideal for men and women experiencing:

  • Thinning hair or receding hairlines

  • Bald spots

  • Alopecia or hair loss due to medical conditions

  • Hair transplant scars
It works for all hair colors and skin types, and can be customized for a shaved look or subtle density.

How many sessions are needed for SMP?

Most clients require 2–3 sessions, spaced a few weeks apart. This allows the pigment to build gradually and achieve the most natural, realistic results. Each session typically lasts 2–4 hours, depending on the area treated.

Can SMP restore a receding hairline?

Yes. Scalp Micropigmentation can recreate a natural-looking hairline for men with receding hairlines. The pigment is applied in tiny, hair-like dots to match your existing hair and facial structure, giving the appearance of a fuller, well-defined hairline.
